Challenge for the Maiden (by Uxian)
From WikiWatch
A high elf once declared to win, The hand of Gynja fair, But royal blood within her veins, Made complex the affair Her grand protector from the past Proclaimed a challenge laid Four tasks from those of noble caste One he himself then made First came Lady Briar's tale With sly grin bade him seek Named hobbits all in Rivervale And report within the week Thus he searched against the clock That town of halfling hate Looked under every tiny rock Found hobbits sixty-eight Next Lord Stilgar took the stand Told him 'prove your heart' 'Respect and honor I demand' 'And a valued gift impart' The gift, his heart he did commit Plus all, his days and life, Respect with poetry was writ, To his intended wife To honour her his path was laid, Out to the desert flame, He sought a beast that harmed the maid, And 'twas single handed slain Now Lord Epok took the floor, 'Shall knowledge you command', 'So seek out beast of legend lore', 'From every Shattered Land' Through Commonlands and burning Ro, Zek and Varsoon's lair, Many beasts were slain and so, Their lore he came to bear Gunny's challenge spoke of yore, The heart was split apart, Bring back the missing half before, He's lost within the dark Through darkest Freeports halls did sneak, Kept out of evil's gaze, Returned the heart to family's keep, Semperfi the missing mage Now last and final Kristoph stood, And blocked the wizard's way, 'To take dear Gynja's hand you would', 'Stand and fight this day' A furious battle they did wage, A thousand blows were struck, But victory embraced our mage, Through courage, skill (and luck) Once all was done, the fight was fought, The day was at an end, Gynja tended both their wounds, And once more they were friends The wizard sat on bended knee, And asked that they be one, The maiden's 'yes' was said with glee, And so the story's done
