Persistence of Honour (by Uxian)

On earning honour each and every day and not falling back on past glories

Who would seek to impugn,
Lampoon,
My honour's word?
Absurd!
Am I not entitled to expect,
Respect?
To your tone I do object,
Reject,
Such phrase that does decry,
Imply,
Reproach that I have stepped awry,
You lie!
You are young and have not known,
Been shown,
All that I have gained,
Obtained
My past nobilities suffice,
As price,
For your respect.

Sir, you know, I've surely not,
Forgot,
The works that earn you fame,
Acclaim.
Heroic acts past duty's call,
Enthrall,
Us all in stories that inspire.
But sire,
The hero now in you is numbed,
Succumbed,
To acceptance of the easy way.
Dismay,
You act no more and only speak,
Critique,
When others stand and fight.
Ignite,
That spark you once desired,
Inspired.
Win honour once again.
