During his reign as King of the conquered and united Iksar tribes of Kunark, Atrebe Sathir (grandson of Venril Sathir conducted many strange genetic experiments attempting to bend the will of nature to his whim by the combination of different species. His particular focus lay in combining the immeasurable power of Dragons with the lesser races.

His most notable successes were the Sokokar (a flying mount created as a hybrid between Dragons and Frogloks) and the Sarnak, a powerful warrior race created by mixing the traits of Dragons with his own race, the Iksar. This slave army lead a swathe of destruction against the Dragonkind throughout Kunark until their eventual defeat at the hands of Jaled-Dar and The Ring of Scale at the Field of Bones, a turning point that marked the beginning of the fall of the Sebilisian Empire.

As The Emerald Circle, the new ruling council of the Iksar crumbled, those races they had enslaved, including the Sarnak, revolted and left to begin plans to satisfy their own lust for power. Once slaves themselves, now they worked to enslave the Goblins and Frogloks for their own imperial plans.

The Two Sarnak Races

These first Sarnak, failing to learn from history began to use magics to create slave races of their own. From themselves they enchanted what we know today as the Gorowyn Sarnak. These more perfect Sarnak were made using a magical stone that Cazic Thule had once intended for the creation of his perfect Iksar race. Instead the stone was lost and Thule created an imperfect Iksar race. These new Sarnak were very close to the perfect design intended by Cazic Thule (though different because of the Dragon traits the Iksar had placed within them). Far more powerful than their creators they rebelled, lead by a hero known only as Gorowyn. In this rebellion all of the new perfect Sarnak fell and the first ones, knowing that their creations were superior named themselves the Di'Zok as they were not true Sarnak.

The perfect ones, for a time, remained extinct as the Di'Zok refused to recreate them, fearing their own destruction but in time others learned the secret of the perfect Sarnak and created them once more. In doing so, these creators were destroyed and knowledge of them lost in the mists of history. Knowing that the perfect Sarnak had destroyed those who created them (their Gods) and that they alone were made in the image of perfection envisaged by Cazic Thule they knew no fear. These Chosen of Norrath built a city named for their fallen hero Gorowyn upon the island of Timorous Deep and from there plot their inevitable conquest of all of Norrath and dominion over the lesser races.
