Background
Ysandre T’Valion doesn’t remember her parents. She has seen their files kept by the church and the lodge enough to know that her mother was a knight and her father worked for the spires. However when Ysandre was very young both her parents were killed by a Teir’ Dal named Terendil. He was a senior member of the church and there had been a matter of perceived insult.
The murder was brought to the attention of the spires and found to be unlawful. Terendil’s punishment was to adopt the T’Valion’s child and raise her as his own. Grudgingly he did but she was not treated well by the male. His wife Nimwen formed a bond with the child though and noticed something a little different about her. The child was able to feel a much wider range of emotions than hate although her control of them was sketchy. Ysandre grew into a charismatic teenager. When she spoke it was with confidence and passion. She was very persuasive when she wanted to be and Nimwen had dreams of her adopted child going into the church. Her sermons would be powerful indeed and Nimwen would be the power behind the throne.
It was not to be. Terendil sent Ysandre to the lodge of the dead to be trained as a knight. There her emotions were seen as weak and life was difficult. As a trainee knight Ysandre was surly and uncooperative. Her frequent outbursts of anger only made her life more difficult and her lack of control over her emotional state meant she was left floundering in the lower ranks and despised by her senior officers. While her loyalty to Innoruuk bordered on the obsessive, her hatred for the politics of the Lodge and the Spires was well known. After Nimwen’s confession regarding her and Terendil’s treachery it was the lodge that sent Ysandre to the Spires to be dealt with. She was duely assigned to Inquisitor Malise to be brought into line or disposed of.
Ysandre only fairly recently gained her official knighthood upon the discovery and recovery of a weapon – a Halberd infused with Innoruuk's hate.
